Eating Out

There are plenty of fantastic places to eat in and around Sedbergh, here are a few of our favourites. Do call to book ahead.

The Black Bull has been renovated and restored to its former glory as a coaching inn and has just been awarded a place in the top 50 Gastropubs in the UK. Run by James and Nina of the Three Hares you can expect the very best seasonal, locally produced food. Open every evening. (5 minute drive)

The Dalesman – our local pub in Sedbergh and very good! (5 minute drive)

Al Forno Italian Kitchen – an informal and relaxed restaurant serving oven-baked pizzas and fresh pasta; open for lunch and dinner and run by a friendly Italian team. (5 minute drive)

The Cross Keys in Cautley is a traditional Temperance Inn (alcohol is not served but you can take your own with no corkage charge) serving home cooked food on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. (10 minute drive)

Hipping Hall in Kirkby Lonsdale is open to non-residents and offers an exceptional tasting menu by Oli Martin from Wednesday to Sunday. (25 min drive)

The Black Swan in Ravenstondale has an excellent menu and is a very warm and welcoming pub in a pretty village setting (25 minute drive)

L’Enclume in Cartmel, an unforgettable dining experience by Simon Rogan, 2 Michelin stars (36 minute drive)

The Punch Bowl is an award winning pub in Crosthwaite serves outstanding food and is between Kendal and Windermere (45 minute drive)

The Forest Side in Grasmere is inspired by the landscape of the Lakes and offers a selection of tasting menus (55 minute drive)
