Up with the larks

The days are now long enough for a partially-lit walk to the top of Winder Fell before breakfast; we know this because we caught the sunrise up there this morning at around 8:15am. Pretty civilised, but mustering the courage to wrap up, boot up and fill a flask in the dark does require a little resolve and perhaps a dollop of worthiness. We will happily steer you  in the right direction and you’ll be back for breakfast before you can say ‘that’ll be one full Cumbrian and a Malabar Eggs please!’

At the other end of the day (not necessarily the same day) the winter months are also a beautiful time to walk into Sedbergh in the evening. Armed with one of our spotlight torches, you will take the old roman road into town that skirts the bottom of the fells. On a clear night its magical, on a cloudy night its an adventure; and the journey home is downhill all the way (well it feels like that after a nourishing pint or two!).

During January and February we are closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights to give us and the team time to get things ready for the spring. Take a look at our booking page for availability during the weekends and our offers page for special rates.
