‘A completely lovely hideaway’

A lovingly restored 18th century barn located in the heart of the Cumbrian countryside between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.

A stay at The Malabar starts with tea and scones, and perhaps a glass of rosé or sparkling wine, in the garden or by the fire. Take one of several beautiful walks from the front door, or enjoy a long soak in your roll top bath.

All our six bedrooms are designed with your comfort in mind. Luxurious beds with pure wool bedding; freestanding baths and walk-in showers with complimentary Bath House toiletries in every bathroom; and unspoilt views of the surrounding countryside all around.

Our well-stocked honesty bar is open in the afternoon and evening so you can enjoy a drink while watching the sun set over the fells. Dinner is served here from Monday to Friday; on Saturday evenings take the beautiful 5-minute drive into Sedbergh with its two excellent pubs.

In the morning we offer freshly brewed Bed Tea brought to your door before serving breakfast in the dining room. On offer: porridge, muesli or grapefruit followed by a full Cumbrian breakfast or a delicious plate of eggs on toast; homemade bread with jams from Rosebud Preserves; a selection of loose-leaf teas and, with a nod to our time spent in India, freshly made lassi.
